The Cottage

Nestled in the quiet embrace of nature, the Cottage Residency is a sanctuary for artists, makers, and dreamers seeking space to create, restore, and reconnect. Rooted in the values of creativity, wellness, slow living, and simplicity, our residency offers a gentle rhythm of life where art and nature are woven together.

Set within a cottage farmhouse surrounded by open fields, gardens, and the timeless beauty of rural landscapes, residents are invited to step away from distraction and immerse themselves in a slower pace.

This residency is not only about artistic practice—it is about living deliberately, finding inspiration in the ordinary, and cultivating a sense of balance between work, rest, and reflection. Whether through painting, writing, craft, or contemplative study, each resident is encouraged to explore their art in harmony with the land and its traditions.

The Cottage Residency is more than a place—it is an experience of belonging, simplicity, and renewal, where creativity flourishes alongside the steady heartbeat of nature.

The Cottage Residency hosts an incubator site for individuals whose life and work involve a professional relationship to the arts and education community. The landscape encourages a philosophical dialogue between culture and agriculture. The Farm is nestled among the Boral forest, meadows, wetlands, and farmland.

We encourage programs that are environmentally sustainable and nurture an appreciation of the land. We are process, not product-driven. Away from the distractions of daily life, a residency allows one the time to renew and focus on their creative practice and experience a sense of tranquility.

We accept applications on a rolling basis – apply anytime! The Artist is responsible for lodging, travel expenses, food, art materials, and other personal expenses. Most participants apply for grants to institutions, government agencies, foundations, or universities in their country/province of origin to assist with funding during their stay.

The residence includes a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, a washroom, and a sunroom. Residents are encouraged to bring items to make the living space accommodate their personal needs.

We do not provide daily cleaning of the rooms or daily meals. Residents are expected to maintain their studio space and room, kitchen, bathroom, and other areas in a clean and tidy manner. One week minimum stay required.
